hello@summitapp.ukFrequently Asked Questions
Why didn't Summit detect my ascent from Strava?
Summit detects summits by checking whether any GPS point in your Strava activity passes within the detection radius (default 150m) of a known summit coordinate. If your GPS track didn't pass close enough to the precise summit, or if the activity was recorded with low GPS accuracy, it may be missed. You can increase the detection radius in Settings, or log the ascent manually by clicking "Log Ascent" and searching for the hill name. You can also re-run a full Strava scan from the dashboard.
How do I cancel my subscription?
You can cancel at any time by emailing billing@summitapp.uk. Your premium access continues until the end of your current billing period. We don't pro-rate cancellations but we do honour our 14-day money-back guarantee — if you cancel within 14 days of subscribing, email us and we'll refund you in full, no questions asked.
What hill lists does Summit include?
Summit tracks all hills from the Database of British and Irish Hills (DoBIH), covering Munros (282), Corbetts (222), Grahams (231), Donalds (89), Wainwrights (214), Marilyns (2,009), Munro Tops (226), and the Welsh 3000s. Munros are available on the free plan. All other lists require Premium.
My Strava activities are private — will Summit still work?
Yes. Summit requests read access to your activities via Strava's OAuth system, which grants access regardless of privacy settings on individual activities. Your data is only ever used to detect summits — we never share your GPS tracks or activity data with anyone.
Can I import hills I logged before getting Strava?
Yes — use the Excel import feature on the Profile page. Download the template, fill in your hills with dates and any notes, and upload it back. Summit will fuzzy-match the hill names against the full database and show you a preview before importing anything. Works with .xlsx and .csv files.
Is my data safe? What happens if I delete my account?
Your ascent data is stored securely in our database (Supabase, hosted in the EU). We never sell your data. You can export everything at any time as CSV from the Profile page. If you delete your account, all your personal data is permanently deleted within 30 days. See our Privacy Policy for full details.
How does Summit use my Strava data?
We request read-only access to your Strava activities. We use the GPS coordinates from your hiking, walking, and trail running activities to detect which hill summits you passed near. We store your name and Strava athlete ID to keep you logged in. We never post to Strava on your behalf, never read your personal profile beyond basic identity, and never share your data with third parties. See our Privacy Policy for full details.
I found a hill that's missing or has the wrong coordinates
Summit's hill data comes from the Database of British and Irish Hills (DoBIH), which is maintained by a community of volunteers. If you spot an error, the best place to report it is directly to DoBIH — corrections there will flow into Summit's next data update. For urgent issues, drop us an email at hello@summitapp.uk.
